When you finish an assignment before the due date, you should stay busy by choosing something from this page.Â
Part of your weekly assignment grade is using all your class time to work on Commercial Art projects.
GRADE = EFFORT
Remember: the key to getting a great grade in this class is staying busy. Effort is more important than finishing a project as quickly as you can.
1) Yearbook - see Mrs. Oakes for info.
2) Keep working on your project. Even if you think it's done, there's probably something you can do to make it better. Ask your peers and/or your teacher if they have any input for improvement.
3) Freestyle! Experimenting in the software is a great way to learn it without a lot of pressure since you don't have to follow directions. Start a new blank file and use the brushes to paint something; make a photo collage of things you love; or just try out all the tools and see what they do.
4) Create another version of your project. You learn more with practice and you might surprise yourself how a second look can be better than the first one.
5) Visit the Adobe webpage and watch tutorials to advance your skills. Try this page HERE and find either Photoshop tutorials if you are in Commercial Art 1 or Illustrator / Animate videos if you are in Commercial Art 2.
6) Look ahead to future assignments and get a head start. Some assignments take longer than others and the due date might be easier for you than your classmates. Jumping ahead will make your project even better.
7) Learn about Design Principles by watching the videos in these slides HERE. This will help you make better decisions about choices you make when creating your assignments.
If you don't have a computer to work on, then get out some paper and draw an idea for a logo for yourself. It can be your name in a cool lettering, an icon that represents you, or a character persona.
